SPOTSWOOD - Richard E. DePue passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at his residence. He was 97 years old.

Born in West Hazleton, PA, to Harold and Leona DePue, he resided in New Brunswick before settling down in Spotswood 63 years ago.

Prior to retiring, he worked as a factory worker in Delco Remy in New Brunswick, where he worked for 37 years as well as being a florist.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran having enlisted at the age of 16. He served in Okinawa, Japan and the Philippines.

In his leisure time, he loved spending time with his family, usually playing competitive games. There was a pool table, a ping pong table, horseshoes, bean bags, and a basketball court at the DePue household. Pop was an avid 500 Rummy player and a fanatical Philadelphia Eagles fan. He had season tickets for over 35 years, attended the 1948 NFL Championship Game, as well as Super Bowl LII in 2018. He attended the many Phillies games, including the 1980 World Series, with his sons. An outdoorsman his entire life, Richard could always be found fishing with his sons or any of his grandchildren. A marksman hunter, Richard held the nickname of "Dead Eye Dick".

Richard was predeceased by his loving wife of 75 years, Dorothy Kadelak DePue in 2019.

Suriving are his daughter, Sharon Macik and her husband, Michael, of Old Bridge; his son, Richard DePue and his wife, Joanne, of Florence; his son, David DePue and his wife, Debbie, of Macungie, PA; his grandchildren, Richard A., Alaina E., David C., Caitlin, Deanna C., and Alexander J.; his great granddaughter, Coraleigh, and his 8 great step-children.

Family and Friends may visit on Friday, September 22, 2023, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, at 9:15 am, at the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Cremation will be private. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
