EAST BRUNSWICK - DUARTE CONTRERAS passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was 95 years old.

Born in Santiago De Cuba, Cuba, to Duarte and Carmen (née Garcia) Contreras, he resided in Santiago before settling down in East Brunswick for 56 years.

Prior to retiring in 1989, he was a manager of fixed assets for Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton, where he worked for 21 years.

Duarte was a parishioner at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church in East Brunswick.

In his leisure time, Duarte loved spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Duarte and Carmen Contreras and his sister, Ana Rosa Puente and her husband, Dr. Jamie Puente MD.

Surviving is his wife, Milagros Contreras of 63 years, his son, Duarte Contreras Jr. of East Brunswick and his sister, Josefina Contreras Garcia and her husband, Emil Edmundo Juan Pita, of Santiago De Cuba, Cuba.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 9:30 am, at St. Bartholomew R.C. Church, 470 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
