MONROE TOWNSHIP - JULIAN MARTIN passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the Chelsea at Forsgate in Monroe Township. He was 94 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Paul and Lucille (née Glowacki) Sienkiewicz, he resided there for 90 years, before moving to Monroe Township, New Jersey in 2019.
Prior to retiring, Julian was employed by Davis Publications, initially as an editor and soon after, Editor-in-Chief and also Associate Publisher.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served as a Corporal from 1951 to 1953. He also was long standing active member of the Knights of Pythias, where he served as Grand Chancellor of the state of New York.
In his spare time, Julian enjoyed meeting up with his friends for breakfast at their local diner, remaining very active in the Knights of Pythias, playing computer games, especially Sudoku (he was an expert!), and listening to his favorite music.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Gladys (née Kaplan) Martin, of Monroe Township; his son, Paul Martin and his wife, Jill, of Toms River; his daughter, Kathi Handt and her husband, Jay, of New City, NY; his grandchildren, Josh Handt and his wife, Meredith, Ryan Handt, Morgan Silverman and her husband, Ben, Sarahann Martin, Lee Martin and his wife, Kristyn; his great-grandchildren, Julianna Mailot, Brayden Martin, Jack Silverman, Connor Silverman, and Samuel Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 1:00pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Park, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ, under the direction of BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, East Brunswick. Entombment will immediately follow services.
