OLD BRIDGE - RAYMOND T. SMELTZER passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. He was 86 years old.
Born in Newark, to Raymond and Anna (née Klachansky) Smeltzer, he resided in Irvington before settling down in Old Bridge for 37 years.
Prior to retiring in 2001, he was a truck driver for Consolidated Freight in Trenton where he worked for over 60 years.
In his leisure time, Raymond enjoy/loved spending time with his family, going to the Poconos, going to the shore and having morning coffee with his friends.
Raymond was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline, in 2018 and his daughter, Joyce Ann Smeltzer in 2005.
Surviving are his son, Raymond T. Smeltzer III and his wife, Sandra; his daughter, Cynthia M. Sorice and her husband, Anthony Jr; his sisters, Rose Gulick and Jane Albanese; his brothers, Joseph, John, George, Michael and Alfred; his grandchildren, Scott, Matthew, Mushy and Jennifer and his eight great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 16th, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, followed by interment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Marlboro. For directions, please visit our "Services" page.
My dad.....I can't imagine this world without you! These last six months you have fought the fight of your life! And YOU DID!!!! I will treasure each and every moment we spent together! We have been inseparable since the day they put me in your arms! Until the day you took your last breath in my arms! Life has come full circle! I am a strong woman because of you! You taught me so much and you will live on in all of us! How blessed was this world to have had you for 86 years! (and me for almost 57 yeas !) Thank you Uncle Ray for the great memories. You took Carlo an I to our very first race track visit. The flea market and to this day, I still eat a bowl of SHOPRITE RASIN BRAN. Since you told me it was your favorite an how you stay so healthy!!! Thank you again Godfather ❤️❤️❤️
