OLD BRIDGE - MARGHERITA COLASUONNO GRUBIAK, 83, of Old Bridge, NJ, died peacefully on July 19, 2022 after a brief illness and a long happy life. Marge, as she was known to her friends, and Noni, as she was called by her family, was born and raised in Grumo Appula in Bari Italy, and came to this country at 16 years old. She was born the only girl to Francesco and Filomena. She met and married her husband Michael Grubiak in 1960 and was married 49 years until his passing in 2009.

Marge was a dedicated housewife raising her 3 children, as well as numerous foster children. She worked at St. Peters Hospital for over 25 years. She loved her faith in God and was an active parishioner at St Thomas the Apostle in Old Bridge and St. Bartholomew in East Brunswick. She was able to combine her passion for cooking and her strong faith by preparing meals for the clergy for many years before she finally retired.

Marge had many interests throughout her life including travel, cooking, mahjong, bowling, summers at the Jersey Shore and keeping her family traditions alive. Most notable was the making of the annual Easter bread, serving the 7 fishes at Christmas and making I frittue or "snowbread" on the first snowfall each winter. It was not uncommon to receive a large pot of meatballs or tray of her famous eggplant parm for no reason. She was the most generous person, knitting 100s of blankets for the local nursing home and veterans. Every newborn was sure to receive a knitted blanket from Noni. Her charitable nature even earned her the AARP Community Service Award. She loved coordinating the Annual Family Reunion, and her attention to detail affectedly earned her the moniker of "Marge in Charge".

She is survived by her son Anthony and his fiancée, Janine, daughter Angela Fallon and her husband, Paul, son Michael and his wife, Susan, and her grandchildren Marisa Martin and Thomas Powell, Alexandra Grubiak and Mikey Grubiak. She is also survived by her brothers and their wives including John and Josephine, Dominic and Dolores, Mario and Maria, Theresa, all of her nieces and nephews and their children, Rosemary Roche and the Roche Family as well as many lifelong friends that were her extended family. She was predeceased by her brothers Charles, Luke and Michael.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, July 22, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23rd, at 8:15 AM, at the funeral home, with a 9:00 AM, Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew R.C. Church, East Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro. For directions, please visit the "services" page.

To know Margie was to love her. She was one of the kindest human being ever created. I will miss her as I am sure many of us will. She was filled with wisdom and stories that touched your very soul. Made me a better person in the knowing of her.

I worked with Marge for most of her 25 years at Saint Peters. She was absolutely one of the most compassionate friendly people I have worked with, May she rest in peace.
