Rick left a legacy of incredible music for the world to explore. We were close friends for over 25 years and I was fortunate enough to be one of the musicians who contributed to 2 of his 4 albums. We all recognized his musical genius, his rock compositions borrowed heavily from Jazz, Orchestral, Classical and World influences and featured great Melodys, cool chord changes, key changes and even time changes. I suppose many of us musicians at the time overlooked his brilliance as a lyricist, mainly because we were so intent on getting through these crazy challenging charts! As talented a musician he was, he was equally unskilled at self promotion and sadly never achieved the recognition or notoriety he so deserves. I would urge anyone to seek out his music on Spotify, etc. Never one to seek the personal spotlight, Ricks music is all posted under his bands name of PH101. As great of a musician Rick was, he was an even better friend and will be missed more than he could have ever imagined. Taken way too soon...you'll not be forgotten Rest In Peace my friend
Going to miss hearing those keyboards. Rest peacefully Rick.
What a great man and great friend Rick was. I will so miss my piano lessons with him. We'd talk music for hours. He was extremely knowledgeable and so excited by music of every genre. I look at my Alban Berg notebook, my theory sheets and songbook and think about the lessons he took great pains to plan for me. I was not a great student, but I did learn so much over the last year. All my friends loved talking to him-- he was a wonderful storyteller. It's heartbreaking. I wish the family all the best in getting through this.
Rick was more than a friend: he was a musical mentor and collaborator. I always enjoyed when we would get together and make music regardless of where and when. He really had a passion and a true talent as a song writer, composer and performer. Rick was generous with his time and talent. He also had a great sense of humor, and I will forever remember that World Wombat Day is October 22nd thanks to Rick! My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends for this great loss. Rest In Peace my friend.
