EAST BRUNSWICK - JAMES RICHARD FLUEGEL passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at The Elms of Cranbury. He was 95 years old.
Born in Boston, MA, to Emil and Mary (Convey) Fluegel, at a young age his family moved to Brooklyn, New York, where he spent his formative years growing up during the Great Depression. After high school, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II. He married Ann Dorothy Faleni in 1960 and raised four boys. In 1973, the family moved to East Brunswick, where he lived for 45 years, before residing at The Elms in Cranbury for the last 3 years.
After an early career with the U.S. Postal Service, Jim started his printing business--REART Graphics--out of the basement of the family's rented home in Brooklyn. He grew the business and relocated his offices to midtown Manhattan and purchased the family home in East Brunswick.
An avid sports fan, Jim followed all New York area teams and coached his sons' youth basketball teams. He had a real passion for horse racing and enjoyed spending Saturdays at the racetrack.
Jim was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Ann, in 2019.
Surviving are his four sons, Edward, of Franklin Park, Richard of Salem, OR, Thomas and his wife, Lucia Feliciano, of Bethesda, MD, and Robert of New York, NY. Also surviving are his two beloved granddaughters, Siena and Alana.
Funeral services were entrusted to The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. Cremation will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program (www.horseadoption.com/donate_detail/9).

My deepest condolences to all the "Fluegel boys" and your families. Jim was a great friend who was so supportive to me and my family through difficult times, even giving me a job at ReART Graphics when I needed to earn money for college. In my head I can easily see his broad smile and hear his laugh. I'm a better person for knowing him.
