SAYREVILLE - JOYCE MARIE FUNK passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at home while she was being cared for by her loving daughter, Lori. She was 77 years old.
She was predeceased by her parents, Marion (Farley) Funk (1984) and John Funk (1973), her beloved son, John Michael Jurewicz (2003) and her beloved son-in-law, Gerry Ryan (2010).
Surviving are her daughter, Lori Ryan of Sayreville, and two grandchildren, Patrick Michael Ryan and Kevin Thomas Ryan.
Born in New Brunswick on May 27, 1942, she resided in South River until 1995. She relocated to Sayreville where she lived for a little over two (2) years. Joyce was the Supervisor of Medical Records for the University of Medicine and Dentistry Behavioral Healthcare from 1982 through 1997.
Throughout her life, Joyce was very talented when creating floral wreaths, centerpieces, etc. and decorating her home. She loved to work in her yard and created a beautiful garden every year.
Joyce moved to Fishersville, Virginia during the fall season of 1997. Fishersville is a small town located in the Shenandoah Valley of the Appalachian Mountains. Joyce was amazed by the beauty of the scenic surroundings where she lived in Virginia. Prior to retiring in 2007, Joyce worked as a Medical Records Clerk in Augusta Medical Center located in Fishersville. When she was living in Virginia she found her true passion which was Genealogy Research. She spent a great deal of time researching her family's history.
Joyce returned to living in Sayreville during the spring season of 2009. During the past 11 years, Lori, Joyce's daughter, was her favorite companion. Joyce and Lori spent a lot of time together whether it was shopping, taking care of errands, attending Country Music Concerts and enjoying several trips. Lori & Joyce went on road trips to Atlantic City and Hershey, PA, last year, to see Toby Keith and Alan Jackson in Concert. They enjoyed a trip to Disney World during the Christmas Season of 2015. Joyce vacationed in Las Vegas twice...once with her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons and, at a later date, with her daughter and grandsons. Joyce and Lori went on two remarkable trips to Nashville. Her daughter, Lori, is lucky to be left with many fond memories from the time that they spent together.

Emma is settling into life with 2 Doxies, they all love the window seats. I can always spot Emma by her ears and she can spot me by the treats I bring. Lori is sending you off with nothing but the best. She loved you more than you'll ever know. I see you in her every time we are together. No one will ever replace you. Joyce, my beautiful friend. I have known you my entire life. First neighbors, then great friends so much so that I couldn't think of anyone else to be godmother to my first child. I have so many fond memories of our times together. Rest in peace my friend. Love you, Ava
