NORTH BRUNSWICK - CHIN (GENE) CHEN passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at home. He was 79.
Gene was born in Xian, China and grew up in Taiwan. He was the oldest child of six children of Yuen and Huey-Hua Wang Chen.
He immigrated to the United States in 1968, where he worked hard to earn his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and his Ph.D. in Nuclear Science Engineering from Iowa State University.
Gene worked as a Research Scientist at the Nuclear Science Research Establishment in Germany before moving to New Jersey in 1977, where he worked as an engineer for several companies including Electronic Associates, Stone and Webster, and Cingular Wireless.
Gene was dedicated to his family and supported many of his family members as they came from abroad to the United States to pursue their studies and careers, even when he did not have much of his own.
Surviving are his daughter, Kye Chen, of New York, NY; son, David Chen, of New York, NY; two brothers, Yang Chen and Sheah Chen, both of Taiwan; and two sisters, Ning Dunn of Lexington, MA, and Josephine Sche of Biggs, CA.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, from 9:30 to 10:30 am, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick. For directions, please visit the "Services" page.
