EAST BRUNSWICK - RITA A. (ANGAROLA) ZAPPIER passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Care One, East Brunswick. She was 84.
Born in the Bronx, NY, she resided there and in Old Bridge before moving to East Brunswick over 51 years ago.
Prior to retiring in 2013, she was a Hall Aide for East Brunswick High School, where she worked for 40 years.
Rita enjoyed spending time playing Bingo with her friends and going to Atlantic City, but her favorite was spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 2000.
Surviving are her two daughters, Paula J. Zappier of East Brunswick, and Diana M. Zappier of Orlando, FL; her brother, Anthony Angarola and his wife, Gay, of the Bronx, NY, and her three sisters, Dorothy Battaglia and her husband, Frank, of Windermere, FL, Louise Nigro and her husband, Mario, of Summit, and Diane Serra and her husband, George, of Ft. Pierce, FL.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8th, at 8:15 AM, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, followed by a 9:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew R.C. Church, 470 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

Rita was a strong, genuine, warm-hearted lady. I spent years with her as a colleague at East Brunswick High School and as a fellow leader with the EBEA. After she retired, we sometimes crossed paths and it was a delight to catch up. I will miss seeing her so much.
Mrs. Zappier was a wonderful person. She is going to be dearly missed.
I met her and instantly loved her . Awesome lady it was my pleasure to know her. She is up with lots of good people that will show her the way . Love you.
Mrs zappier was a wonderful sweet woman that had a big heart , she was always fun to be around and always opened her home to you and made you feel like family!! This world lost a beautiful woman but heaven gained a true Angel ...I will miss her in so many ways... my deepest condolences to her hole family
