HOLMDEL - FAUSTO CAPRARI, died on Friday, August 3, 2018, at Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel. He was 91.
Born in Genoa, Italy, he received his Master's Degree in Naval Architecture and Navigation at the St. George Technical Institute in Genoa. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1958, settling in Jersey City, then East Brunswick, where he resided before moving to Holmdel 11 years ago.
In 1957, he was granted a Captain's License from the Republic of Liberia Commissioner of Maritime Affairs to perform the duties of 'Master' on vessels engaged in international service.
Mr. Caprari was an electro-optical engineer who held 12 U.S. patents. Prior to retiring in 2007, he was Founder and President/Engineering Leader of Actinic Systems Inc., East Brunswick, since 1983. Prior to that he was a senior member of the Technical Staff at RCA, Somerville, where he worked from 1966 to 1983. While at RCA, he earned a diploma in General Electronics at the RCA Institutes in Manhattan, NY and continued his studies in microprocessor technology and computer science during his employ at the RCA Solid State Division in Somerville. From 1961 to 1966 he worked in the Optics and Metrology Division of the Keuffel & Esser Company in Hoboken. Mr. Caprari was a member of SPIE, The International Society for Optics and Photonics.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Gagliardi Caprari, in 2007.
Surviving are his daughter, Elena Wehrenberg and her husband, Alan, of London, England; his brother, Roberto Caprari of Rapallo, Italy, and four grandchildren, A.J., Julia, William & Evan.
Friends may call on Thursday, August 9th, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, at The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM.
